The transition from one elevation to another in the garden can be articulated in many ways. Our past work includes a wide range of examples: a broad staircase of massive stone slabs between urn-topped piers, rough basalt step-stones emerging from a mossy bank, a ribbon of folded steel rippling down a slope, a sleek ipe staircase weathered to a silvery gray, and curved brick steps topped by elegant, vine-entwined custom hand rails.
